With FreeCAD I started to edit the individual components. Unfortunately, crashes and loading times were very frustrating, but it was precisely these that made my decision to use Blender easier. I started a Blender tutorial that I haven't completed to this day, but it gave me the start I needed that I could use. I also found such an interesting little community on Discord.

I also experimented with Meshmixer, which has a very good "Make Solid" function. However, I preferred to fix the network errors in Blender, because this way the STL files reached their optimal and smallest size.

Of course, I also watched various YouTube videos to really get used to Blender. However, there are very many available and so you can quickly find what you are looking for and then find your way with Blender.
